Sustainability Policy Commission General Assembly

The overarching objective of the Sustainability Policy Commission (SPC) is to facilitate the adoption of NES recommendations to bridge the sustainability gap and support the embedding of the Green, Blue, and Circular economies in Nigeria. As a result, the SPC has created four Thematic Groups (TG) that align with various initiatives including the Paris Agreement, Global Biodiversity Framework through Nigeria’s NDC sectors, NetZero transition etc to drive the Sustainability Pillars for economic growth. The thematic groups are as follows:

a. Climate Change: NDCs and Green Economy

b. Circular Economy/Natural Ecosystems and Forests

c. Environmental Management

d. Marine Ecosystem and Management: driving the Blue Economy

To achieve the overall objective of the Policy Commissions through the diversity of ideas and effective stakeholder participation, membership is anticipated to include individuals and corporate representatives from the private sector, civil society, government Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) at federal and state level, non-governmental organization and multi-lateral agencies.

To ensure the active participation of members, which is essential for the effectiveness of the Policy Commissions, members need to attend meetings and other programs hosted by the Commission regularly. Specifically, Policy Commissions are expected to hold meetings all year round. One such meeting is the annual General Assembly which is expected to be held twice a year. To this end, the NESG is calling for registrations for the first General Assembly meeting
