The Ernest Shonekan Centre for Legislative Reforms and Economic Development (‘ESC’) is a non-partisan, non-profit think tank established to drive legislative reforms and promote economic development in Nigeria. As an initiative of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (‘NESG’), the Centre focuses on strengthening legislative frameworks, enabling an improved business environment, and fostering good governance through research, capacity building, and advocacy. The Centre is positioned to drive active legislative participation, evidence-based research, and structured engagements to drive meaningful reforms at the national and sub-national levels. The Centre has refined its vision, strategy, and governance approach to align with national economic priorities and global best practices.
The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), a specialist section of the Nigerian Bar Association (“NBA”), is responsible for the advancement of business law practice and engendering the professional development of commercial lawyers in Nigeria.
Both organisations have expressed mutual concerns about the development of the Nigerian economy and, in line with their mandates, are desirous of working together. They have mutually agreed to formalise this Partnership through the signing of this MOU, aiming to contribute to initiatives that improve the business environment and ultimately enhance Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
The main objective of the Signing Ceremony is to formalise the Partnership between NBASBL and ESC to enhance knowledge sharing in business law and economic policy and foster research, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives.
