SPECIAL INVITATION TO A ONE DAY FOCUS GROUP FORUM ON TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY IN NIGERIA

The COVID 19 pandemic has impacted nearly every industry in unprecedented ways including tourism & hospitality. The economic impact on the economy of most communities, states, countries and the entire world has been dramatic and highly noticeable because so many businesses shut down fast when, due to travel restrictions, people stopped moving about and when people stopped travelling, many businesses shut down.

Tourism Industries have been the hardest hit. There is currently an estimated 45% job cut and the economy of the sector is so intricately connected to many other sectors of the economy that the huge loss of income from core tourism and hospitality enterprises has had a large multiplier effect because the larger industry ecosystem has been deeply affected as well. With over 7000 aero planes grounded for months worldwide in 2020 (and looming again for summer 2021), the WTTC estimated that over 50million jobs would be lost in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors as a result of the pandemic.
