Managing Director SPDC & Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN)

Dr. Osagie Okunbor is the current/serving Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd. (SPDC) and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria- a position he has held since 2015. Osagie is a consummate Pan-Africanist and energy industry professional known for his thought leadership, keen ability to deliver mission critical results and the integration of multiple stakeholders’ viewpoints to create sustainable outcomes. Osagie Okunbor has over 35 years of energy industry experience and has worked in Nigeria, the UK, Brunei, and the Netherlands. Within the Shell Group and prior to his position as the Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, Osagie held multiple key leadership positions which included: Senior Adviser for Upstream International Operated Business, Vice President Human Resources for Sub-Saharan Africa, Vice President for Infrastructure and Logistics in Nigeria and Human Resources Director in Nigeria. Dr. Osagie Okunbor is a recipient of multiple industry/non-industry awards, some of which include: the Nigeria International Energy Summit (N.I.E.S) Award as the Energy Personality of the Year 2022, the H.E Dr Alirio Parra 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Industry, the HR People Magazine 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the Development of HR in Nigeria, Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration by the Enugu State University, amongst others. Osagie is the current Chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) and the Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). He also chairs the Boards of The Shell Nigeria Pension Fund Administrators (SNCPFA) and All-On, an off-grid energy access company set up to provide alternative energy to the underserved in Nigeria. He is married and blessed with three children and enjoys music and football.
