Mr Yemi Cardoso

Olayemi Michael Cardoso is an accomplished banker, public strategist, and financial leader serving as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Educated at Aston University and the Harvard Kennedy School, his career includes senior executive roles such as Vice President at Citibank Nigeria, Executive Director at Citizens International Bank, and Chairman of the Board of Citibank Nigeria. Cardoso entered public service as pioneer Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Lagos State, designing long-term fiscal strategies and institutional reforms. He also chaired the World Bank Lagos Metropolitan Development and Governance Project and served on various impact investing and economic advisory councils. As CBN Governor, he directs national monetary policy, driving foreign exchange stability, banking recapitalization, and macroeconomic reforms to ensure sustainable financial stability across Nigeria.
